My First Award!

I want to thank Love and Marriage and Peppermint Bee for both giving me this award! How exciting!

“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”!

I know I am supposed to tag 8 people...but I am super busy at work right now...I'll get on that later today.

Oh and I forgot to tell yall! One of the girls that went to the mountains with us tried snowboarding for the first time. She obviously fell alot and had a bunch of bumps and bruises. She had complained that her arm hurt. After work on Monday she went to the doctor and her arm is BROKEN! Ahhh...Not. Good.

Cupcake Giveaway!

Sweet Tea Diaries has an awesome giveaway going on!

How cute is all of this stuff? If I don't win I think I will be heading to Target to stock up on all of these adorable cupcake goodies! :)

On another note...last night me and the bf cooked some really yummy chicken. We dipped chicken breasts in egg, coated them in crunched up tortilla chips, and baked them! We topped them with cheese, sour cream, and salsa. Mmm Mmm Good!

One of the last things we are waiting on before closing on the house is the appraisal...which we will find out today! If the house is appraised at less than what we are paying then the contract will be void! BF is not nervous and actually hopes that it will be appraised at less...but I just want it to be appraised for more so that it will be a smoother ordeal! So I am nervous! I will let you know! Here is a picture of the house...isn't it adorable? I love it!

I hope that everyone is having an awesome Hump Day! We are almost over halfway to the weekend and I couldn't be more excited!

Ummmm these may be the cutest dresses ever! A girl from Columbia, SC makes these dresses. She has become a big hit for Carolina Cup dresses and she also makes a lot of bridesmaids dresses as well. Her stuff is to die for!

Unfortunately her website is not up and running yet...but I will keep yall posted on that. Her shop is on Devine Street if you ever make it to Columbia, SC!

Ski Bunny!

We had such a fun weekend! We arrived around 6ish on Thursday evening, cooked lasagna, built a fire, and relaxed! We woke up pretty early on Saturday and headed into "town". My favorite mountain town ever...Blowing Rock! If you are ever in the Boone, NC area it is definitely worth the 10 minute drive. There are the cutest shops, great places to eat, and an adorable park in the middle of town.

Please don't judge the camo. Remember we are from Charleston so the only cold weather clothes he owns are for hunting! :) As you can see, there was not much snow. :( Of course yesterday as we were leaving it was a blizzard! It was almost a relief though, becuase I have been up there before where it was extremely scary to be driving in the ice/snow. It was definitely freezing though! That night we hit the slopes for the night session (6-10 pm)! I think this is the perfect time to ski. It is cheaper, less crowded, and 4 hours is plenty long enough for me!

This is how he looked most of the time...joking! He was much better than I thought he was going to be since this is the first time we have gone together. I am also proud to say that I only fell once both nights...and that was because some idiot ran into someone and knocked them down in front of me. Not. Cool.

On Saturday, we got in the hot tub/sauna, relaxed by the fire for the remainder of the day, and then went skiing again that night.

Here is us again with the view from our condo of the slopes!

ETA: I also forgot to add that I made the best quiche EVER this weekend. My mom always makes it, but it was my first try. It was definitely a success as I made two of them and both of them were gone FAST! It is also super easy...

Ingredients: 1 frozen pie crust, 1 package bacon, 1.5 cups shredded swiss cheese, 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 cup half and half, 4 eggs, salt and pepper to taste

-Bake or Fry the bacon (I chose to bake it so that I could pay less attention to it and socialize aka drink wine by the fire!) Crumble the bacon.
-Heat oven to 375 degrees
-Bake pie shell for about 5 minutes
-Put bacon in bottom of shell
-Cover with 1.5 cups shredded swiss cheese
-Combine/whip the eggs, half and half, whipping cream, salt, and pepper
-Pour mixture over bacon and cheese
-Bake for about 45 minutes or until top is browned

Delicious!!! Enjoy! :)

How was your weekend?

I hope that it was wonderful and that you are having a great Monday!

Wine-O

Ugghhh I am a little sleepy this morning. We had a little too much wine last night. We did have a lot of fun though! We went over to one of the couples that is coming on the ski trips house for dinner! We cooked steaks, drank too much wine, and finalized our plans for the trip. I am getting kind of nervous, because I haven't skiied in 2 years. I think it might be like riding a bike though...or I hope it is.

Annnnd the news yall have all been waiting for. One rat down. Hopefully there are no more. My boss set out the traps around lunchtime yesterday. We didn't think that the little visitor would come WHILE WE WERE IN THE OFFICE...but around 4:30 we heard it. Thankfully, there were no more this morning! It did create a little entertainment in this boring office though. :)

Well if you are bored one of my friends sent me this website and it is pretty cool...http://www.newseum.org/todaysfrontpages/flash/
If you put your mouse over anywhere in the world it will show you todays headline there. Pretty interesting!

Well back to work for my last full day of the week...

Giveaway!

Everyone hurry over to myflipflopz.blogspot.com (sorry I think my computer settings are not allowing me to enter links...I can't figure it out!) and enter her giveaway! She makes a super cute sign with any saying that you like if you win! YAY! :)

Let It Snow!

I am getting more and more excited about our ski trip by the second!!! We will arrive around 6ish on Thursday evening and will be leaving on Sunday! I wish we were able to stay a little longer, but there is that thing called work that always seems to get in the way of things! :) The forecast is calling for snow showers every single day that we are there! We couldn't ask for better weather! I have a really cute new ski jacket to wear, also! I will be sure to take pictures. YAY!

It is not the best skiing in the world...BUT it is the closest, we have a free place to stay, and it is always a good time! :)

Here is a picture of the refrigerator that I think we have decided on...

Do any of you have the bottom freezer like this one? I think that I really like it, but would like any advice that you have as I have never had to pick out a refrigerator before. The salesman said that the bottom freezer holds more than the side. This is definitely a plus as the bf always has deer meat and fish to freeze. Yippee. :)

And, yes, our suspicions were confirmed overnight. There is definitely a rat that is creeping in our office overnight. How DISGUSTING. I will spare you the details, but when I say rat, I mean a rat. Not a mouse. A big rat. Ughhhh.

Happy Presidents Day!

Oh how I wish I had today off like the rest of the world! I am in a GREAT mood this Monday morning, because I only have to work until Wednesday full days and then a half day on Thursday. We are leaving for our ski trip on Thursday at lunch time and I am SOOOOO excited! :)

We had a fun weekend. Friday, I went to happy hour with some friends and then we went downtown to a few different bars. Saturday, we relaxed and then finally went to dinner at Bambu. We then met up with friends and went to see a band called State Radio at the Music Farm. Not really my type of music, but it was still a good time! We went shopping for a new tv, refrigerator, and furniture yesterday. That was so fun! :)

I cooked this yummy chicken last night for the first time:

Chicken with Lemon, Oregano, and Feta Cheese

Ingredients: Chicken Breasts, Olive Oil, Dried Oregano, Lemon Juice, Salt, Pepper, Butter, Feta Cheese

-Heat Oven to 375 degrees F.
-Coat the chicken with the oil and arrange in pan. Sprinkle the chicken with oregano, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Top each piece with a piece of butter.
-Cook the chicken until the breasts are just done. Remove the pan from oven and top with feta cheese. Baste the chicken with the pan juices.
-Heat the broiler. Broil the chicken until golden brown. Serve with pan juices.

We had brown rice and field peas on the side. It was super easy and delicious! I will definitely make this again.

Oh...and my office building is a little older and I am 98% sure there was some sort of rat in here this weekend. Ewwwwwww. I am sitting indian style in my chair and do not plan on putting my feet down until this situation is under control. I will keep yall posted. I really can't handle this.

Have a happy Monday!

Happy Friday! :)

TGIF!!!!!!! I hope that everyone has a wonderful Friday and a fabulous Valentines Day! We don't have any special plans. With the buying of the house we are trying to save some money. There is a place in town called "Massage Envy" that gives really cheap ($39.00 for the first time!) and pretty good massages...so we decided we would just buy eachother a massage! I know that Massage Envy is a chain so there might be one located near you! We are also hoping to go to the Southeastern Wildlife Expo that I mentioned in an earlier post. The chance of rain is down to 60% and they said it should clear out after the morning. So our fingers are crossed!

Maybe I will get surprised with some flowers...especially since my family is coming in town tonight and we were supposed to be hanging out with them and he just HAD to go fishing today. He is fishing out of Georgetown which is like an hour away...so he won't be back until late tonight.

Thanks to Elizabeth from Love and Marriage (I cant figure out how to do a link...I think I have something on my computer that is messing it up?!) for this "interview" :)

1. When you have an hour of free time, what do you like to do?

I enjoy shopping, doing laundry, cooking, and reading when I have free time. I love shopping...especially bargain shopping. Surprisingly, I enjoy doing laundry too. It puts me in a really good mood if everything is clean and put away. I have to do this atleast every Sunday before I start my week.

2. Are you a morning or a night person?

I think that I am actually both if that is possible. During the weeks I usually go to bed pretty early and enjoy getting up early (well I obviously have to for work). During the weekends I will stay up late and still wake up early.

3. What is the best day of the year to you?

Hmmm...everyday! :) I really enjoy July 4th and the day of Rockville Regatta! Of course, I love all of the holidays...but with divorced parents it always seems to bring stress as to how and where the day will be spent. Heck, any day that I have off from work is a fabulous day!!!!!! :)

4. Was there one defining moment when you knew your husband/boyfriend was the one?

Actually, I met him through a mutual friend one night at a bar called Salty Mikes. It was during the summer and that is where EVERYONE goes on Wednesday nights. Something about 2 dollar bourbons? Ewww...but that's where the cute boys are. I wasn't really paying too much attention to him, because I kind of had a crush on someone else there. He kept asking my friend about me and so two days later we went out on the boat with him. We have been inseperable since! I said that night after we went on the boat that I was going to marry him. A year and a half later I still feel the same way...so we will see. :)

5. If you knew you couldn't fail and money was no object, what would you like to do in the next five years?

I would really want to travel the world! I want to go everywhere and see everything!

Now...here are the rules:
If you would like to play along here are the directions:
1. Leave me a comment & your email address saying, "Interview me." If you dare.
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to intervew someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. The first five 'askers' get the interview!

Have fun! :)

P.S. "He's Just not that Into You" was so good! I even talked the bf into seeing it with me and some girlfriends and he even enjoyed it! I definitely recommend it!

Hilarious

Having a bad day? Go to www.fmylife.com. It is hilarious! :)

Happy Thursday!

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Thursday! We had so much fun last night celebrating our friends birthday! I had the chicken nachos at Taco Boy and then we ended up at Surf Bar for a few drinks. I love hanging out on Folly! I was not so much wanting to get up for work this morning even though I was in bed by 10:30ish, but my Smoothie King pit stop helped! :)

Everyone in Charleston is gearing up for the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition aka SEWE which is this weekend. It is a really fun weekend long event. Saturday is the biggest day and includes lots of beer, food, friends, dog shows, etc. BUT, as of right now they are calling for rain...80% chance to be exact. :( I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will clear out after the morning, because it really is such a fun day!

I am going to see "He's Just Not That Into You" tonight...and I am super excited! Has anyone seen it yet?

Almost...

I am almost out of this office for the day! I have several things to celebrate this afternoon:

1. The beautiful weather!
2. The boyfriend signed a contract for the house today!!!!!!!!!! YAY! :)
3. One of our friends 25th birthday!

I am headed to Red's Icehouse for a little outside happy hour (and to let the traffic die down) and then headed to Folly to TACO BOY for dinner! Yummy!!

Change in Plans...

Soooo yesterday morning the boyfriend and a couple of his buddies went fishing. They left at 5:30 in the morning and he assured me that he would be back before I got off of work at 5:30. After I got off of work we were supposed to be going to look at the house that he is in the process of buying again for the 100th time and then go to dinner at the new restaurant, Bambu, for a little celebratory dinner.

Well, it rolls around to 5:00 and I still haven't heard from him...which means he is still fishing far enough offshore where he doesn't get cell phone service. POed. His mom calls me at 5:10 and informs me that she just got a phone call from the Coast Guard saying they were broken down 30 miles offshore. Dumb arses. Seatow is headed out to find them and tow them in.

So, I decided happy hour with some girls from work would be a great solution. We headed to the mexican joint and had some margaritas and then went to Bottles and Brushes (http://www.bottlesnbrushes.com) which was soooo much fun. Every month they post a calendar on their website and each night has a different painting. So...you pick a night that you like the painting, grab some friends, drink some wine, and they take you step by step through the painting. Last night we painted an awesome picture of a crab that turned out super cute! The picture above is my painting! Cute, huh?

Well the boyfriend finally arrived back to land around 11:30ish with a cold that I am sure to hear about for the next week.

Oh, and PS...My mom called and said that she hit a deer last night on her way home...well actually she said that it hit her. Right. hehe.

Happy Hump Day! :)

Welcome!

Well...After stalking numerous blogs for a long time (ie I have a pretty boring desk job!) I have finally given in. I am not sure if my life is going to be the least bit interesting to anyone...but it will still be fun for me! I decided to start my first post with the generic "List 25 things about yourself" so that ya'll can get to know a little bit about me! :)

1. I am a 20 something year old living in fabulous Charleston, SC! Charleston is the most amazing city to live in...I love the weather, food, people, events...I could go on and on!

2. I am a graduate of Clemson University! Go Tigers! Hopefully we can bounce back from our disappointing loss to Florida State on Saturday and win our game tonight! (Even though I will be enjoying a yummy dinner at a new restaurant in town called Bambu instead of watching the game! Yay!)

3. Like most fellow bloggers that I have been stalking - I am also obsessed with some Lilly! I am also obsessed with the fact that my dad gave me a gift certificate to the local Lilly store for my birthday last Friday so I can stock up on some of the new Spring goodies. And I just don't think my Lilly looks right without a pair of Jack Rogers.

4. I could live off of pizza...literally. Pepperoni and Feta is my favorite. Sooooo good!!

5. I love being on the water! Boating is one of my favorite warm weather activities! Hopefully this spring-like weather is here to stay...it has been in the mid-70s since last Friday here in Charleston!

6. My boyfriend works on ships...which means he is gone for 4 months at a time!! One might ask how I deal with this? Lots of girl time over margaritas! :)

7. I have 4 sisters. Well...I have an older half sister, an older real sister, a younger real sister, and a younger step sister.

8. Me and my older real sister are the only ones that look anything alike. People are constantly asking if we are twins. We are only 18 months apart and are super close!

9. I hate seafood. Ewww. I know this is really, really odd considering where I live...but the thought of something swimming around in the ocean and then putting it in my mouth has always grossed me out!

10. I looove going to the grocery store! I also get really excited cutting coupons out of the Sunday paper, as well as when the weekly ads come out in the Wednesday paper. I love me some bargain shopping!

11. I love margaritas. I mean who doesn't? My favorite place to get a good margarita in Charleston is either Taco Boy on Folly Beach or Watersedge in Mt. Pleasant. Yum-E!

12. I really enjoy cookbooks! I am such a picky eater that I hardly like any of the recipes, but I still think it is so fun.

13. I could sit in Barnes and Noble for hours looking at cookbooks!

14. I am on the 3rd book in the Twilight series right now...so yes I am one of those people. I thought the first one was really good...but I have kind of been losing interest as of lately.

15. I love to travel! This past year I went on trips to Las Vegas, Nashville, Minneapolis, New Orleans, and BERMUDA! Good times! :)

16. Speaking of traveling...I love going to the mountains - Blowing Rock, NC in particular! We are going with 2 other couples next weekend to go skiing! I can't wait...and ya'll will get to hear allll about it! :)

17. I eat strawberries pretty much every morning for breakfast. And lucky for me they have been on sale at Publix (our grocery store) for a good month and a half now. I didn't think it was strawberry season until the warmer weather arrived...

18. I voted for John McCain...just thought I would put that out there.

19. My favorite restaurant in Charleston is called The Red Drum. If you ever visit it is a must try. Their wood grilled chicken is to DIE for...trust me!

20. My major in college was marketing...and I work at an accounting firm. Hopefully once this economy picks up I can try and find a job that I am more passionate about. Until then I will work as hard as I can here.

21. I did gymnastics for 10 years when I was younger. I get sooo excited if it is ever on TV...which is very rare. Soooo...when I found out on Sunday night that Shawn Johnson is going to be on Dancing with the Stars you can't even imagine my excitement!!!!!

22. Besides margaritas...my beverages of choice are a glass of pinot grigio, a cold michelob ultra, or some ice water. Oh and how could I forget the mimosa.

23. I am anal about my weekly manicure...dark red has become my obsession as of lately.

24. I frequently sit at my desk and eat an entire bag of orginal golfish...eeek...boredom maybe?

25. I am also obsessed with reading all of your blogs. I have never commented...but I guess in order to get you to read about me I better start!

I haven't really figured this whole blogging think out yet...hopefully it won't take me too long! I hope that ya'll are having a wonderful Tuesday!
